Empowering Communities, Transforming Lives
The Community Psychology Association of India (CPAI) is a professional body founded in 1988 at the University of Lucknow, dedicated to advancing psychological research, practice, and advocacy to foster social justice, well-being, and community resilience.
CPAI brings together psychologists, educators, researchers, social workers, mental health professionals, and community leaders to bridge the gap between psychological science and community action. It is registered under the Society Act of the Government of India.
Our mission is to empower communities by promoting mental health, conducting evidence-based research, building capacity through training, and influencing public policy for inclusive development. We operate through initiatives such as Community Counseling Centers, programs on aging, adolescent mental health, and gender & social inclusion.
CPAI also publishes the Indian Journal of Community Psychology and a quarterly e-bulletin, and hosts national and international conferences to promote knowledge exchange and professional growth.
